Hi girls,

I’m back home and so it’s time for the travel post about Bogotá, tips, tricks and places to visit.

For more I’ll be making a vlog of the trip were all show a few more pics so stay tuned.

 

How to get to Bogotá

For some latin americans the best option is Viva Colombia, if you are not a southie, but are currently around, specially in Panamá, Ecuador and Perú, that low cost airline can be your best and cheapest option to travel to Colombia. I paid $250 (it can be less), half a normal plane ticket from Lan or Avianca. You can always pay a extra bucks at Viva Colombia to travel a bit comfier, specially since you pick your seat. By the way my recommendation is that if you speak spanish, are over 16 years old and up to help if an emergency happens, the best option for you are the emergency window seats. For me it was a 2 hour and 30 minutes flight so it was ok.

 

Cómo llegar a Bogotá

Para algunos latinoamericanos y visitantes de paso que quieran ir a Bogotá, la mejor y más barata opción es, al menos en mi opinión, la aerolínea de bajo costo Viva Colombia. Mi pasaje costo alrededor de unos $250 (y puede salirte menos), más o menos la mitad de un pasaje de Lan o Avianca. Siempre puedes pagar unos dólares extra para ir más cómodo en Viva Colombia, especialmente porque tu escoges tu asiento. Mi recomendación si decides viajar con ellos es escoger los asientos de ventanas de emergencia, pero para sentarte en ellos debes ser mayor de 16, hablar español y obviamente estar dispuesto a ayudar en caso de alguna emergencia. 

 

Moving around Bogotá

The best way to move around Bogotá if you are not a local is Uber, ends up being really cheap. For me it was difficult understanding how they name their streets so I recommend you always having the address where you wanna go on hand, otherwise I’m sure you can end up somewhere different.

La mejor y más barata opción para moverse por Bogotá es Uber, siempre y cuando no tengas a alguien que te saque a pasear. Si estas solo y como yo te va a costar entender su sistema de calles, te recomiendo tener siempre a la mano la dirección de a donde quieres ir, porque sino, quien sabe donde puedes terminar. 

 

Touring Bogotá

Even tho I went to visit friends, they had to work on friday, monday and Tuesday so, they weren’t there to tour me around the city and since I was on my own, I researched on Trip Advisor and found Bogotá Pass. They are not as cheap as getting a map and moving around in the city by your own, but for me they were the best. They were all very kind, help me since I was planning the trip and I really enjoyed, learned and had a lot of fun with their tours. I got a one day pass that included some nice activities and a two hour walk around Candelaria.  Their share tour to the salt cathedral was great too. Give them a try if you plan to visit Bogotá, if I get back, I’m sure I wanna try some new tours with them.

 

Tours por Bogotá

A pesar de que fui a ver amigos, hubieron días en que ellos debían trabajar, por lo que cuando estaba por mi cuenta, tuve que buscar que hacer y lo mejor era conocer la ciudad. Investigando por Trip Advisor encontré a Bogotá Pass, no son tours super baratos, pero valen cada dólar o peso que pagues. Me ayudaron desde que estuve planeando el viaje fueron siempre muy amables y en verdad disfrute, me divertí y aprendí un montón en cada tour que tomé con ellos. Yo compré un pass de un día que me incluía actividades y entradas a lugares muy divertidos como a Monserrate o un tour de dos horas de caminata por el barrio de la Candelaria o una exquisita cata de café. Su tour compartido a la catedral de sal también fue muy bueno. Tomen sus tours si están o planear ir a Bogotá, yo estoy segura de que si vuelvo, voy a volver a tomar otro tipo de tours con ellos.

I’m sure if you get a tour they’ll take you to the places you must visit and they’ll also recommend you where to go, but I lose nothing telling you too.

Andres Carne de Res in the city or Chia

La Candelaria

Museums (Gold Museum/National Museum/Botero Museum)

Salt Cathedral

 

Outside Bogotá

Villa de Leyva (3 hours away from Bogotá)

 

Que visitar

Estas son algunas de mis recomendaciones de para visitar, de hecho si toman algún tour de todas maneras se las van a recomendar, pero no pierdo nada haciendolo yo también.

 

Dentro de Bogotá

El cerro de Monserrate

Andrés Carne de Res DC o el de Chia

Museos como el de oro, el nacional o el de Botero (que es gratis)

La Barrio de la Candelaria

La Catedral de Sal

 

Fuera de Bogotá

Villa de Leyva a tres horas de Bogotá y ahi les recomiendo hacer los tours de cuatrimotos.
