Hey lovelies, it’s time for another travel post. This time we’re gonna be visiting Messina and Taormina in the island of Sicily, Italy. It was one of the stops of our Mediterranean Cruise and one of the last stops of it, before hitting Rome.
Once we arrive, we were going to go the train station and go to Taormina, but in the end we ended up hiring a taxi (One of the ones that will be at the port offering their services). We shared it with the other peruvians on the cruise and a couple from New Zealand if I’m not mistaken. He took us to Taormina and then back to Messina. They basically take you, let you visit the city and give you a time to meet up. Remember whatever you do, depends on your budget. You can always just hire the cruise excursions.
While you’re in Messina, you can visit the Cathedral, the Fontana di Orione, the Astronomic Clock and the lookout terrace of the Santuario della Madonna di Montalto. Also while you are in Taormina, you can visit the Greco Roman Theater, Castelmola (even tho we didn’t visit it), the Piazza Duomo, walk around the Corso Umberto, the Piazza IX Aprile and apparently Mount Etna too.
We didn’t visit Mount Etna, because we didn’t have much time because of the cruise schedule. But you can do it if you visit the city on your own.
